Enhancing the Clubhouse Mobile App

Who

Utility Warehouse (UW) is the UK’s only genuine multiservice provider, trusted by over 700,000 customers. Regulated by Ofcom, Ofgem, and the Financial Conduct Authority, UW bundles home services like energy, broadband, mobile, and insurance into one simple bill—helping customers save up to £481 annually.

What

Our primary focus was creating a wallet section for the Utility Warehouse Clubhouse mobile app, available on both Android and iOS. The app allows customers to view and manage their accounts at a glance, providing a faster and more intuitive alternative to the web. The new wallet section needed to be modern, on-brand, and user-friendly while adhering to strict security and banking compliance standards. The brief included: • Designing a seamless and intuitive wallet user experience. • Developing a comprehensive UI strategy. • Ensuring compliance through rigorous security testing. • Delivering the project using an agile methodology.

The project included:

Developed a modern, secure, and user-friendly wallet section for the app.
Introduced innovative features like card blocking and unblocking.
Overcame complex challenges such as 3D secure implementation.
Built a strong and ongoing partnership with Utility Warehouse.

How

We began by tackling the app’s account and card management system, employing an Agile delivery process to ensure regular updates, efficient collaboration, and ample time for testing. In addition to delivering on the original brief, we suggested and implemented new features to enhance user functionality. One standout addition was the ability for customers to block and unblock their debit cards with a single click directly within the app.
The project also involved overcoming technical challenges, such as implementing 3D secure card transactions within the chosen framework. Despite these complexities, we collaborated closely with the Utility Warehouse team, delivering the project on time and within budget over eight months. Our partnership didn’t end with the wallet launch. We continue to provide regular updates and implement nice-to-have functionalities, such as form validations, to improve usability and grow the app’s capabilities.

The app reached number 59 in top iOS business apps.
Active users increased by 40,000 since our involvement.
Every update is now delivered to 150,000+ active users.
